Albion Valves (UK) Ltd, one of the UK’s leading valve suppliers, has added another apprentice to its warehouse team.
Jacob Wills is the fifth apprentice to join Albion’s warehouse team in as many years, he will be working in the warehouse fulfilling customer orders, which includes branding valves, building actuation packages, and the setting and testing of safety valves.
Jacob joined the company at 20 years old, completing his studies at school and college before entering the working world. He was looking for a new challenge when the vacancy at Albion arose, he saw this as a great opportunity to build upon his education within a working environment.
David Keys, Albion’s Managing Director, comments “Albion has a great track record of successful apprenticeship schemes. Before Jacob, we have had four people join Albion as a Warehouse Apprentice, all of which have completed their training and subsequently been given permanent full-time roles within the company, and all of them are still with the company today”
The warehouse isn’t the only department that looks to apprenticeship schemes for new talent, the company has also employed apprentices in their sales and export departments.
David adds “Due to the growth of the company in recent years, we have been taking on additional staff to alleviate the pressures of the ever-increasing work-loads. We have found apprenticeship schemes are a mutually beneficial way to do this, the employee benefits from excellent training from our experienced and knowledgeable staff and potentially a full-time role at the end of the scheme, and Albion gets a motivated employee who is keen to learn.”
Jacob comments “I am constantly aiming to improve my knowledge and skills within the workplace, so I saw this apprenticeship scheme as a perfect opportunity for me! So far, I am enjoying my time at Albion, it is fast paced, which I love as I enjoy being active, and I am constantly learning new skills. I am looking forward to completing my apprenticeship here.”
